What we do

Our activities

Four complementary formats, from open meetups to the annual conference. All our events are free.

Our formats

Four ways to participate

Each format addresses a different need: discover, practice, build, or meet the ecosystem.

  • Meetups

    Gather, listen, share.

Meetups are the most accessible community gathering. One or two short presentations on an AI topic (a project, a research paper, a feedback session), followed by informal networking. Most are organized by GalsenAI ambassadors at their universities as part of the GalsenAI Ambassador Program. You come to listen, you leave with contacts.

  • Workshops

    Build real AI skills, hands-on.

Our workshops are intensive, practical sessions lasting a half to a full day. You'll dive into the code alongside community experts to master specific technical challenges: training a custom model, deploying a robust API, or building a dataset from scratch. We deliberately keep groups small to guarantee personalized mentorship for every participant.

Multiple sessions year-round, exploring the latest AI trends
  • Hackathons

    Build something in 48 hours.

Hackathons bring together multidisciplinary teams around a concrete challenge, often rooted in a local problem: Senegalese open data, agriculture, health, national languages. Some projects born in a hackathon have continued their life within the community.

One or two editions per year
  • IndabaX Senegal

The annual meeting of Senegalese AI.

IndabaX Senegal is the national branch of the Deep Learning Indaba, the largest artificial intelligence conference on the African continent. Over several days, researchers, students, engineers, and companies gather for conferences, practical tutorials, and poster sessions.

    One edition per year
  • Paper Reading

    Read a research paper, together.

Paper Reading is an activity dedicated to reading and discussing research articles. Each session allows the community to dissect a scientific paper and understand its key concepts, with special attention to applications that make sense in the African context.

Want to lead a session?

Meetups and workshops thrive thanks to those who share what they know. No particular level of expertise is required: an honest experience report is often worth more than a theoretical presentation.
